Musgrave Scrambles to 13th at Kentucky
Sparta, Kentucky (July 19, 2008) - Ted Musgrave raced the No. 59 Team ASE/Harris Trucking Toyota to a 13th-place finish in Saturday’s Built Ford Tough 225 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Kentucky Speedway. Musgrave was forced to race through the pack following a penalty after his first pit stop.
“We had a wrench left in the truck after the first stop,” Musgrave said. “There was a little communication error while we were trying to make an adjustment and the jack went down before it was done and we had to go to the tail of the longest line on the restart. With the competition being so tight it’s virtually impossible to race your way from the back of the pack so we had to take fuel only on the next pit stop to get track position back. That hurt us a little on the last stop because instead of doing two tires like everyone else we had to take four. So instead of finishing seventh or eighth like we should have we ended up 13th. But we know what happened to put us there, and that’s a lot easier for us to fix than some of the mechanical issues we’ve dealt with recently.”
Musgrave was much happier with the performance of the truck after some testing during the series’ three-week break since the last event at Memphis.
“The truck was very competitive here tonight and as a driver that’s all I can ask for,” Musgrave said. “We’ve been scratching our heads after some of these races lately because we just couldn’t figure out why we were running so bad. We didn’t have anything like that here tonight. The truck ran well all night and we had a real good chance at getting up into the top ten. We’ve got some more testing next week leading up to the Indianapolis race so we should be even better there.”
Musgrave remains 14th in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series championship standings, just 17 points behind Brendan Gaughan for 13th. He is 160 points behind Dennis Setzer for the tenth position in the standings.
Next up for Musgrave and the No. 59 Team ASE/Harris Trucking Toyota is the Power Stroke Diesel 200 at O’Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis on Friday July 25. SPEED will have the live telecast starting at 7:30 P.M. Eastern with the green flag scheduled for shortly after 8 P.M. MRN Radio will have the live radio call on select affiliates nationwide and on Sirius NASCAR Radio Channel 128. |
