Zachry uses the racetrack to recruit talentMARTINSVILLE, VA, (May 8, 2009) – Zachry, sponsor of the Zachry No. 24 Toyota Tundra and racer David Starr, has turned the racetrack into a recruiting station, using their NASCAR Camping World Truck Series sponsorship to locate skilled employees, put people to work and create unity among their current workforce—all in an economic downturn. The sponsorship is about more than just turning left and winning races for the engineering and construction company, which entertains potential employees at race tracks across the country. With current jobsites in nearly 40 states, Zachry has used the breadth of the NASCAR sponsorship to reach job seekers from regions, at all levels within the organization. “We are continually impressed by Zachry and what they do each week at the race track,” said Jim Harris, owner of the No. 24 Toyota Tundra. “They have great displays that tell their story to race fans so that they can learn about their company ethics in a convenient location. It’s a great way to step outside of the box and find quality people who are looking for a job.” Brightly-colored tents with photographic displays and the authentic Zachry showtruck spot the fan walk areas at prominent tracks, grabbing the attention of would-be Zachry employees. Zachry recruitment professionals guide fans through potential employment opportunities, paperwork and questions while allowing them to connect with David Starr in photos and face-to-face interactions. “I’ve enjoyed getting out there to meet the Zachry employees at each race,” said David Starr. “These people are really behind the organization they work for and it is refreshing to see people being recruited at the race track. These days so many people are struggling for work and it’s nice to see our sponsor taking advantage of their partnership with us to build on a great prospect. We are fortunate to be able to work with them and I gladly tell race fans they should apply for a job there.” Zachry is engaged in the planning, building and renewing of the world’s most critical industrial facilities. Zachry remains a family-owned, privately held company whose values—Safety, Commitment, Trust, Integrity, Service, Economy and Skill—lead every decision, every time. Founded in 1924, Zachry’s long list of experience has led to more than 6,000 completed projects in the United States and abroad. The San Antonio-based organization has grown to include nearly 20,000 employees and more than 40 million workhours per year.
