News and Notes:

  • The 14-year NASCAR Camping World Truck Series veteran will be making his 300th NASCAR Camping World Truck Series start in Milwaukee.  Ironically the 300th start is coming at the same track where Cook made his NCWTS debut in 1996, and he finished 12th.
  • The most impressive thing about Cook’s starts is that 281 of his 299 starts are consecutive (from Jan. 18, 1998 – June 13, 2009)
  • Cook has led 172 laps at the oldest continually operating race track in America and has completed 95.4% of the laps attempted in Milwaukee.  He has been running at the finish of 11 of the 13 events.
  • This Saturday Cook will be racing HT Chassis No. 12.  Last season it raced at Phoenix International Raceway and finished 11th.
  • In 165 speedway (one-to-two mile tracks) starts, Cook has four wins, three poles, 16 top-five and 64 top-10 finishes.   He has led 514 laps in his career on this particular category of tracks.

300 Starts: “This is a huge milestone for me in my career.  I’ve had some really great times in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.  NASCAR in general has been really good to me over the years.  I’ve worked with a lot of great owners and made a lot of friends out there in the officials and the competitors.  300 starts has been a wonderful ride for me in the truck series and I’m proud to be a part of the competition week in and week out.  I think me being here for all these races says a lot about my passion for this sport.  The NCWTS has always been my favorite racing in NASCAR.  But it is also my passion, my dream and my goal to be a race car driver since I was young.  So I am living my dream as a driver each time I strap into my Toyota Tundra.  It’s a great feeling to love your job.  300 starts has been a wonderful ride; I can’t wait to see how it continues.”

Father’s Day: “NASCAR is such a family oriented sport.  We are all so fortunate to race, and have the chance to bring our families as well.  Each driver out there is living his dream and to be able to experience that with our families is a wonderful thing.  It is a family oriented sport; even the competitors in the garage area support each other and know all about each other’s kids.  We’ve grown together from traveling the way that we do each week and being on the road so much.  It’s nice to be able to have a motor home and bring your wife and kids with you to the track, not only for support but also so we can see each other.  We are gone so much that it’s nice to be together on the road.  Sometimes with school schedules it doesn’t always work out where we can be together but for the most part the opportunity is there for us to take advantage of it when we can.  On the Truck Series schedule, even for crew members, we will be home on Sunday so all those fathers out there have the chance to spend the day with their kids as they should.”
