Cajun Industries Safety Incentive Winner:  Cajun Industries started a safety incentive program whereby front-line supervisors without any safety incidents are placed in a drawing each month.  Out of those supervisors, a winner will be chosen to travel to the race track as an honorary Crew Chief to sit beside the team’s Crew Chief Danny Rollins.  May’s contest winner is Justin Brewer.  He will be attending Memphis Motorsports Park this weekend as his reward.  Plus, his name will be displayed across the rear of the race truck in recognition of his good record.

Heat in Memphis: “Summer months always prove to be hard on everyone for the heat.  Memphis is one of the hottest tracks we go to, so every year we are always praying for a cool front to slide in for the race.  We lucked up a little bit on that last year, but the prediction this year is not the same.  The drivers and teams have to really drink a lot of fluids and keep up their energy level for this race.  Even though it starts at five (CT) pm, we will still feel the remnants of the heat from the day.  It has been so bad there on a red-flag delay NASCAR has brought water to us on the track.  And after the race, the infield care center is usually flooded trying to help drivers get replenished.  I will start preparing myself now and keep myself hydrated well for a few days after I return home.”

Memphis Speed: “Even though Memphis is listed as a short track, you still feel the sensation of speed there.  When the hot weather sets in, it makes the race track really slick.  And all of us drivers will want more forward bite and more grip during the race.  So I’m sure we will be hearing the same thing up and down pit road.  The team that has the forward bite under control and the most grip is the team to beat there.”
