David Starr on Friday the 13th: “I am not superstitious at all, so the Friday, 13th date does not affect me in how I approach the race in Phoenix.  Some of these drivers wear the same socks, or have the same hat, or do the same thing if they have won at a track.  I have won in Phoenix before but don’t have a lucky penny that I attribute that win too.  I think you win races by your approach and your determination, and how the race plays out is another huge factor for winning.  Friday the 13th is just another race day to me, and those are the best days.”

Phoenix International Raceway: “Phoenix International Raceway is one of the places I love to race on cause it is unlike any other track on the circuit.  It has a dog leg on the back straightaway which means you have to drive it very differently than any other track we go to.  It is challenging but a lot of fun.  There is nothing cookie cutter about Phoenix International Raceway. That provides the best racing for the fans, and some of the most entertaining behind the wheel too.”
Karla Blackstock, Senior Marketing Director, on Zachry’s Involvement in NCWTS: “Our sponsorship in the Truck Series is two-fold – employee engagement and brand recognition. The series and David provide a rallying point by engaging employees at all levels. David delivers messages at jobsites that are critical to our company and to NASCAR, such as safety, ensuring that our core values are personally relayed to employees. At any of our 100-plus jobsites, David and the truck are recognizable. As we rolled out our new brand last year, it quickly became evident that our new brand was vibrant and that our employees identified with it, partially because of the sponsorship.”
